Project History

CN Seeds Ltd is a family company established in 1990 serving professional growers with a wide range of herb, vegetable and flower seeds from their base near Ely in Cambridgeshire.  CN Seeds objective was to reduce their operating costs whilst increasing their productivity and Nexus Energy were commissioned to make this a reality.

Nexus Energy Ltd designed and specified a wood pellet fuelled heating system using an ETA HACK 200 (199kW) boiler system – a fully modulating and completely automated biomass solution.  The district heating scheme was specified to take heat from the most convenient boiler/hopper location to the glasshouses and office.

The introduction of the biomass heating system has not only allowed CN Seeds to reduce their running costs considerably but has accelerated their breeding programme, halving it from 12 months to 6 months allowing their top quality products to be brought to the market faster.

Client Feedback

“We would highly recommend Nexus Energy to anyone interested in having a biomass system installed. Their technical expertise on both the RHI and the workings of a biomass system could not be matched by anyone else we considered. The installation was undertaken with complete professionalism and the quality of workmanship was of a high standard. The Nexus team worked around the clock to install the system in a short time span and ensure we were commissioned before any RHI rate degression. Nexus provided a one stop shop providing both boiler installation and servicing aswell as technical support in relation to the Ofgem application and RHI”.
